2012 Design Contest
2012 I-Plants Magazine Design Contest
Deadline Extended to May 4, 2012. I-Plants Magazine recently announced its inaugural Design Contest for plantscape and outdoor landscaping projects installed during 2011. This is the perfect way to promote your business and increase your sales!

Please send one submission form per submittal, you may send as many as you like. All winners will be announced in the July 2012 Design issue of I-Plants Magazine.Requirements: all projects must have been installed from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. All design work and installation must have been completed by the business submitting the project.
Please include at least 4 digital color photos of your design. Photos must be of professional quality worthy of publication—your submission may be rejected if the quality of your photos is substandard.
Categories:
- Free-standing container plantings, interior and exterior.
- Atrium/garden plantings, interior and exterior.
- Green walls and facades, interior and exterior.
- Rooftop gardens (containerized) and Green Roofs.
- Holiday decor, short term rentals and special events.
- Artificial foliage, cut floral and artificial floral work.
Submissions will be judged by a non-biased panel of experts in the horticulture and/or design field. Judges will not know who submitted each project. Judges will be exempt from judging any submittals from their own company.
Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Design aspects: use of symmetry/asymmetry, clear focal point, design harmony and balance. 20%

Appropriateness for the client and for the space. 15%Appropriate and unique choice and use of plant material. 15%
- Appropriate and unique choice and use of containers, topdressing and other materials as applicable. 15%
- Use of color: foliage, blooming plants, containers, top dressing. 15%
- Uniqueness of overall design. 20%
Winners will be notified by email in June 2012 and will receive a plaque honoring their achievement. Additional plaques may be ordered upon request.
First, second, third place and honorable mention winners may be announced for each category, depending on the number of submittals and other criteria. Not all categories may have a winner. One Platinum award may be designated by the judges if there is an entry that is determined to be most unique and extraordinary.
